The Lehigh Valle Zoo is home to an amazing array of animals from alpacas to zebra’s, adds fun like paddle boats and wagon rides, is a great place for birthday parties, you can adopt your favorite animal, and so much more!  Last year the Lehigh Valley Zoo introduced their first annual Run Wild at Lehigh Valley Zoo 5K and 1 mile walk, a family event that helps to make the benefits of the Lehigh Valley Zoo possible, while promoting quality family time and a healthy lifestyle.

This years 5K and 1 mile family fun walk will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2010, starting and finishing at the zoo, located at 5150 Game Preserve Road.  Start time for the 5K run is 8:00 am, the 1 mile family fun walk starts at 9:30 am.  The deadline for registration is Friday, August 26.  Click here to register.

This years new 5K course consists of a beautiful run along the Jordan Creek and crosses the 150 year old Geiger Covered Bridge.  The wide, well groomed, trails bordering the Jordan are tree canopied and offer a shaded, especially picturesque run to be remembered all year long.  The run finishes with a full loop within the Lehigh Valley Zoo.  Registration is $25.00.

The approximate 1 mile course will consist of an interpretive walk in and outside the zoo and is stroller friendly.  The walk is not a timed event, so you can enjoy the wonderful collection of fascinating wildlife from around the world.  Registration is $15.00 for an individual, and $25.00 for a family up to 6 people.  Finishers of the walk will receive a commemorative bracelet as a thank you for supporting the Lehigh Valley Zoo.
