One of the best reasons to live in The Lehigh Valley is the opportunity to attend one of the many types of schools here. The Da Vinci Science Center, located on Cedar Crest Blvd in Allentown, awarded the first ever Young Science Award to Whitehall resident and 6th grader, Billy Schopf, from the Whitehall-Coply Middle School.
Billy, along with 5 other award winners, was recognized and praised by Senator Robert Casey at the Hall of Fame Awards Program at The Da Vinci Science Center. Billy developed a unique wind powered generating system for electric and solar vehicle batteries that has attracted corporate interest, as well as a phone call from the office of President Barak Obama!
Awards were also given to students from Freedom High School, Moravian Academy, Emmaus High School, and Southern Lehigh High School.
