Lehigh Valley Students Honored for Artwork

A first place award and honor was given to eleventh grade student, Jessica Bastida, for her painting called "Pencil to Paper".  Bastida, a student of Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts, received her award with pleasure and pride at the Young Artists Exhibit at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem this past Friday. Emmaus High School Tennis Player Receives National Honor

Parade Magazine is selecting an all American Service Team, a team of 15 high school students from across the United States, to be honored for the role they play in their communities.  Parade Magazine will honor the 15 students in Washington, D.C. later this month with a ceremony to recognize how they shape the communities they provide services for. Promote Nature to our School Children

Promoting nature and the outdoors to our school children has become a passion for school teacher, Sue Raab.  For the seventh year in a row, Sue and her helpers took 28 preschoolers to her backyard nature lesson!  The class took a quarter-mile walk from St. Anne's to Sue's backyard where the children learned about ducks, rabbits, dogs, and fish. Emmaus High School Alumni Soccer Players Give Back

Emmaus High School Alumni players of classes 1971-2013 showed up to play a soccer game to raise money for a scholarship developed by the soccer alumni, class of 1989.  This past November's game raised $3000 that was given to a deserving senior soccer player. Emmaus High School's soccer team boasts their 12 Time District 11 Championship status, as well as having won the second consecutive NSCAA Academic Award.  This award is given for showing exemplary performance as a team in the classroom. Saucon Valley School District Raises the bar with Watch D.O.G.S

A local Saucon Valley dad has decided it's time to play a role in the lives of the Saucon Valley Elementary School children by establishing a local branch of the national group Watch D.O.G.S.  (Dads of Great Students).  Men can be involved in their children's school lives by volunteering one day a week to be present at the school and be a role model. Lehigh Valley: Home to Award-Winning Kids

One of the best reasons to live in The Lehigh Valley is the opportunity to attend one of the many types of schools here. The Da Vinci Science Center, located on Cedar Crest Blvd in Allentown, awarded the first ever Young Science Award to Whitehall resident and 6th grader, Billy Schopf, from the Whitehall-Coply Middle School.
